Sometimes I feel nervous that not everyone I encounter thinks I'm fantastic. This talk by Erika Napoletano, “Rethinking Unpopular,” reminds me that universal appeal isn't my goal—reaching my intended audience of friends, colleagues, and clients is my goal.

This is a great one to watch if you're feeling unpopular. In it, Napoletano reminds us that “unpopular” is not the same as “unlikeable.” Just like trying to please everyone ends up badly, so does trying to simply be popular. Make your world the way you want it, and others who want to live in that world will join you there.
