At the beginning of this year, an old friend of mine led a team through the Whole Life Challenge, an eight-week program in the form of an online game, designed to help participants create, increase, or maintain their health and well-being. I signed up right away (not only do I love having a whole team of support when I challenge myself, but also it was the middle of a bleak winter on this island and I was going a little stir-crazy). I thought it would be fine. But it was way better than fine—this was my favorite group activity in recent history.
I got so much out of it that I wanted to share with everyone I know. So I'm starting a team for the next round!
WLC is basically a game that challenges us to “try on” a whole life of health and fitness for eight weeks. As a team, we can win points and lose points—there are bonuses along the way for sticking with various areas (getting enough sleep, exercising consistently, sticking to dietary choices). And the prize is... well, it’s who you are eight weeks after May 7th.
I’d love to have you on my team (we’re called Make It Happen). The challenge begins May 7th, but you should register right away to get ready. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments below, or send me a note. There's also a ton of info on their website, plus this video, which explains most of what I wanted to know when I was first considering signing up:
Truly, over my eight weeks of doing this in the last round, I got so much out of the group support and the long-ish term program (none of that “one week to the best body of your life” stuff ever appeals to me). The attitude of my team, and of the structure of the program, was encouraging, supportive, forgiving, AND challenging. Yes, all at the same time. If this sounds inspiring, please do join me!
